The Second War
The devastation that the Dark Lord formerly known as Voldemort had caused was great and warped both the Muggle realm and the Wizarding World beyond all recognition. Fear, oppression, and genocide had occurred over the years that Voldemort had reigned during the 1980s, and when he was resurrected by Peter Pettigrew in 199, those things were once again resurrected along with him. Giants, Werewolves, Vampires, Dementors, and Dark Wizards banned together to destroy all Muggles and eventually use those left over from the genocide as slaves, instating themselves the new leaders of both the Muggle and Wizarding Worlds, breaching all magical secrecy laws. Voldemort thought himself invincible, for he had ripped his soul into shreds and stored them in both animate and inanimate objects; if one body or vessel was destroyed, there was another shred of his soul to take his place, along with a new Dark Spell of bodily resurrection.
According to an ancient prophecy, only one could defeat Voldemort, and he would choose that person himself. Harry Potter was marked with a scar that should have killed him from the Avada Kedavra Curse, but was protected by his mother and father, Lily and James Potter. The prophecy also stated that neither could live while the other is alive, meaning that Harry Potter was the world’s only hope in defeating the most malicious tyrant the Wizarding and Muggle Worlds have known. Albus Dumbledore told Harry of this prophecy in full when Harry was sixteen years old, along with information about how Voldemort survived the death of his body: he had ripped his soul to shreds, storing the pieces in various objects and beings that had great significance to him, allowing him to live on even after one body was destroyed. It was up to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix to find the Horcruxes and destroy them, but it would be Harry to deal the final blow, or to receive the final blow from Voldemort.
Finding the Horcruxes was a difficult task. The Order of the Phoenix, then run by Minerva McGonagall after Albus Dumbledore’s death by the hand of Severus Snape, was enlisted to help, but they had their hands full arguing with the Ministry about their actions and fighting Death Eaters. Harry Potter, his friends Ronald Weasley, Hermione Granger, and Neville Longbottom all came together in what was to be their final year at Hogwarts and dropped out of school in order to find and destroy the Horcruxes, which soon proved to be a full-time job. The final epic battle between the Order of the Phoenix and the Death Eaters proved to be an epic battle indeed; several innocent casualties and scandal was involved. In the end, Harry Potter defeated Voldemort, but nearly died himself. To this day Harry Potter bears scars of another kind, a result from the final battle against Voldemort.
All Death Eaters were gathered and punished – the Ministry introduced the Death Penalty, which involved administering the Avada Kedavra Curse on the victim. Those of young age, under twenty, however, were let off easy with serving double the time they served Voldemort in Azkaban, which was reinstated with Dementors and Wizard guards to patrol the Dementors in order to keep them in line. The basis on this was that the majority of the Wizengamot felt that the Witches and Wizards who followed Voldemort were still young enough to perhaps change their ways, and only joined him because of adolescent fears.
During the final year of Voldemort’s second reign of terror, Hogwarts was closed for what was then thought permanently. After Voldemort was defeated, however, talk about reinstating the school began to be discussed among the School Board, but no one seemed to want to take the job. After several years of debate and looking for a new Headmaster or Headmistress. ___________________ took over.
Hogwarts: The Next Generation
The year is now 2020, and the new generation of Hogwarts students has risen. Many students whose parents or guardians had been involved in the Second War (Voldmort’s second reign of terror) are currently going through identity crises. Some have inherited their parents’ attitudes, prejudices, and abilities, while others have vowed to act unique and to not turn out like their parents. All students are going through the troubles of adolescent growing pains, identity, and all want to make their mark and stand out to be known by what they have accomplished, not by what their parents have done.
